Determining the compass deviation in 36 courses:

Determining the compass deviation in 36 courses is not a separate method, it includes all navigation methods that have been described before.

In the method that we do now, the compass deviation is determined from the beginning directly in 36 courses, eliminating the coefficient calculations.

Ship swing a complete gyration in each board, to starboard and to port.

It is observed successively compass bearing in every course, from 10 to 10 degrees.

The compass deviation values for each course are obtained by making the difference between the known magnetic bearing and observed compass bearing.

The determined values of deviation enrol in a graphic.

Final deviation curve is the average curve of the two curves in each board.
