Maritime Navigation using Excel

Welcome to our website

Introduction

‘Flag Gaff’Maritime Navigation using Excel is a collection of tools and a handbook of formulae for students and, of course, for watchkeeping mates, but not only.

In addition, it represents an alternative to modern sailing devices, such as GPS, ECDIS, and so on.

Who want to deepen the knowledge of these topics shall consult other extra sources.

The blog posts contain MS Excel 365 files, so that some features may not work properly on older versions of the program.

For safety reasons, these are protected, for not being modified accidentally or inadvertently.

All of them can be downloaded for free and can be used offline.

The forms contain various examples that can be deleted and filled up with your data.

The documents can be used on any device (i.e., desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.), under any operating system (i.e., Windows, iOS, Ubuntu, Android, etc.), and with any office application (i.e., MS Office, LibreOffice, WPS Office, etc.).

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions and, also, I wait suggestions from you.

Acknowledgement

The Author expresses his special thanks to I. Apostol, M. Deboveanu, C. Duma, N. Istrate and G. Panait, the teachers that I had in the Navy School.

I very much appreciate the encouragement and friendly assistance given to me.

Also, I'm grateful to G. I. Balaban, M. Chirita and V. Pavica, which are the authors of the books used by me in Institute and in these blog posts.

My final thanks go to my patient and understanding wife, Nicol, for all her assistance and help since I started work at this website.

Frankly, she knows MS Excel much better than me.
